rules of the American Flag... (and DEFFINITIONS)

  • How to Display the AMERICAN Flag
    http://www.ushistory.org/betsy

    • 1. When the flag is displayed over the middle of the street, it should be suspended vertically with the union to the north in an east and west street or to the east in a north and south street.

    • 2. The flag of the United States of America, when it is displayed with another flag against a wall from crossed staffs, should be on the right, the flag's own right [that means the viewer's left --Webmaster], and its staff should be in front of the staff of the other flag.

    • 3. The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. By "half-staff" is meant lowering the flag to one-half the distance between the top and bottom of the staff. Crepe streamers may be affixed to spear heads or flagstaffs in a parade only by order of the President of the United States.

    • 4. When flags of States, cities, or localities, or pennants of societies are flown on the same halyard with the flag of the United States, the latter should always be at the peak. When the flags are flown from adjacent staffs, the flag of the United States should be hoisted first and lowered last. No such flag or pennant may be placed above the flag of the United States or to the right of the flag of the United States (the viewer's left). When the flag is half-masted, both flags are half-masted, with the US flag at the mid-point and the other flag below.

    • 5. When the flag is suspended over a sidewalk from a rope extending from a house to a pole at the edge of the sidewalk, the flag should be hoisted out, union first, from the building.

    • 6. When the flag of the United States is displayed from a staff projecting horizontally or at an angle from the window sill, balcony, or front of a building, the union of the flag should be placed at the peak of the staff unless the flag is at half-staff.

    • 7. When the flag is used to cover a casket, it should be so placed that the union is at the head and over the left shoulder. The flag should not be lowered into the grave or allowed to touch the ground.

    • 8. When the flag is displayed in a manner other than by being flown from a staff, it should be displayed flat, whether indoors or out. When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window it should be displayed in the same way, that is with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street. When festoons, rosettes or drapings are desired, bunting of blue, white and red should be used, but never the flag.

    • 9. That the flag, when carried in a procession with another flag, or flags, should be either on the marching right; that is, the flag's own right, or, if there is a line of other flags, in front of the center of that line.

    • 10. The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest point of the group when a number of flags of States or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs.

    • 11. When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace.

    • 12. When displayed from a staff in a church or public auditorium on or off a podium, the flag of the United States of America should hold the position of superior prominence, in advance of the audience, and in the position of honor at the clergyman's or speaker's right as he faces the audience. Any other flag so displayed should be placed on the left of the clergyman or speaker (to the right of the audience).

    • 13. When the flag is displayed on a car, the staff shall be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender.

    • 14. When hung in a window where it is viewed from the street, place the union at the head and over the left shoulder.

Flagpoles, Flag Sizes, Flag Proportions Show Section Hide Section The usual size of a flag used at home is 3'x5'. A casket flag is 9'x5-1/2'. The table below shows the appropriate size flag to fly on flagpoles of several heights.
First Flag of New England, 1686-c.1707?The species of tree in the earliest drawings apparently is not critical, sometimes looking like a Pine, sometimes like an Oak. It is described as the "Red Flag of New England," even though one source labels it as such immediately below an illustration colored blue! (the caption on the original document is in French and Dutch, not English, but I simulate it here in English.)
Second Flag of New England, c.1707?-1775When the American Revolutionary War broke out in 1775, the Massachusetts Militia Men remembered their flag and modified it by removing the Cross of St. George and enlarging the Pine Tree. This flag is depicted in the famous painting by Jonathan Trumbell of "The Battle of Bunker Hill," which he painted in 1785, after the war was over. Trumbell was an officer in the Revolutionary Army and was in Massachusetts at the time of the battle, but he did not participate in that battle. One thing to note; there is a flag being touted as "THE Flag of New England" that is blue with the cross and tree in the canton and six stars in a circle in the fly. This flag has no basis in good history or good vexillology. It was invented by a Flag Company in Ipswich, Massachusetts strictly for commercial purposes and they have sold many to unsuspecting customers. The flag is accompanied by a copyright statement that says "NOT TO BE MANUFACTURED, PRINTED OR REPRODUCED WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION."
Not Really a Flag of New EnglandOn 8 June 1998, K. Albert Ebinger, owner of the copyright on the above flag design, made a presentation to the New England Governor's Conference who, without realizing it was a proprietary design controlled for the profit of one person, adopted the design as the official New England Flag. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THIS SITUATION, PLEASE CONTACT THE NEW ENGLAND GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE (NEGC Inc., 76 Summer St, Boston MA 02110-1226, 1-617-423-6900, FAX 1-617-423-7327, negc@tiac.net, http://www.tiac.net/users/negc/ ) OR YOUR FAVORITE NEW ENGLAND GOVERNOR(S) AND LET THEM KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.
The NEGC responded to NEVA's letter of concern, in part, "In 1998, Mr. Ebinger appeared before the New England Governors' Conference, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada during the annual Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers and suggested the promotion of New England tourism would benefit from the use of a common symbol, such as his 'New England Flag'. At that meeting, the governors approved a motion to adopt the flag as the 'official emblem of the New England Conference'. They did not make any claims as to its legitimacy as an official or authentic flag of the six state region, nor did they adopt it as the official flag of the region."
Please contact me for further information, references, etc. regarding the Flags of New England and of Maine.

What qualities about me are attractive to you? What is your sex life like specifcally? (details please) Why? How come? when? where? with who?

Attractiveness...

Attractiveness:
What is attractive to you may not be attractive to other people. In other words, what you like someone else may dislike. The world would be boring if everyone liked the same things and disliked everything else at the same time.
I like Americans. English is very important to me and my date must understand and speak it as well or better then I do. I was born -n- raised in the USA by parents who were born and raised in the USA by parents who were born and raised in the USA by parents who were born and raised in the USA. So in other words my great-grandparents were born and raised in the USA. I like it that way. No one has ever tryed to set me up on a date. I don't like when people use English in an incorrect manner, even if they were born and raised here. Most non-American women are not attractive to me. Europeans, like people from England, can look attractive. But defiantly people from like India and Pakistan are never going to be attractive to me. Australians are attractive sometimes. I am only talking about females.
I dislike women with male hair cuts that show off the back of their neck. I dislike piercings on women. I dislike rudeness and improper use of English, weather it be in spoken words or in typed words. I dislike people trying to change other people in to what they may think is "normal".

Usage: Regular and ordinary are popular terms of well-known signification; normal has now a more specific sense, arising out of its use in science. A thing is normal, or in its normal state, when strictly conformed to those principles of its constitution which mark its species or to the standard of a healthy and natural condition. It is abnormal when it departs from those principles.
NormalNor"mal\, n. [Cf. F. normale, ligne normale. See
Normal, a.]
1. (Geom.) Any perpendicular.
2. (Geom.) A straight line or plane drawn from any point of a curve or surface so as to be perpendicular to the curve or surface at that point.
Note: The term normal is also used to denote the distance along the normal line from the curve to the axis of abscissas or to the center of curvature.

What is normal for me may not be normal for you. I dislike heavey noticable make up on women. What I dislike is also what is unattractive to me. So when i experiance these things it makes me want to stay away from the person making me experiance them. i wont go up to somone with heavey make up and try to dance with them since i dont like them having heavy make up to begin with. so what i realy dislike is when people dance with somone whom they have no intencens of wanting anything to do with. being buzzed or even drunk is no excuse for doing that.
I do like women that are not skin and bones. I like kindness. I like females that like me for who i am and not who I was or who i could be if I change. Change is best in money form.
Well, that is all I have to say on that.

Women?

Hi,
I do not understand women. maybe you can explane why women do the things they do. why do they dance with someone and complement the guy if they don't want to see them after that night? why do women dance to gether if they wont date each other? why do women wear reveiling clothes and then when they get hit on they get pissed? why do women who have boyfriends or husbands go out with out them? Why do women get mad at men for doing things that the owmn think is ok for her to do? why if a women is mad at a man and the man want to try and men things then she gets madder butif she tryes to mend things when he is mad she expext him to fold and stop being mad. why dont women take responceability for why a man is mad at her?
Why do women do what they do? it comfuses men. I wish women would just be blunt, kind and literal. stay away from the men you do not want to date. Dance or hang out with or talk to only the men you want to date. Because, sometimes, most of the time, I don't understand women... How do women tell men they truly like him and are not just messing around? why? How can a women say she loves a guy and yet still say she dose not want to be around him anymore?
HELP...

welcome...

Anyhow, getting up at 6am, and being at clients home by 8 has really put a toll on me and so not getting enough sleep has made me sick. *sniff* I like my Job i just wish i could start it at 9am and not have to go on Saturdays. Being a home health aide means having to go to clients almost every day.
It goes by kinda fast and that is cool since i have a good time with my morning client. my other client i wish i did not have. but it is only an hour a day and twice on Saturday. I miss going to tag sales. oh well.
My morning client is going to doctor today so i don't have to see him, that gives me time to sleep and get well.
Not sure what else to say so i will just end this now and hope i get comments on All my postings.
Have a nice day

Being single sucks...

June 8th 2009 (10:42PM):
You get to do a lot of things alone! i hate being single.
  • I miss the cuddleing, laying in bed asleep next to someone, kissing, holding hands, having someone to talk to offline, having someone to do things with, having someone to shower with, sex...ect.
  • if i go to a movie i sit alone.
  • if I watch tv there is no one to cuddle on the couch with.
  • no one to go for walks with.
  • No one to talk to.
  • no one to give and get hugs from.
  • no one to play board games and card games with.
  • no one to love. no one to go out with.
it sucks to be single. i dont know why anyone would think they like to be single. i am not talking marrage. i just mean being in a relationship at least. ok?
(tell your friends to come read my blogs, please.)
